What is abuse?   What is violence?

Abuse and violence are the same thing. If someone is being violent towards someone else for any reason, then they are abusing them. Self-defence is not violence. Violence is about power and control.

Abusers use violence in order to get power and control over other people and to make the abusers feel good about themselves. It is wrong to do this, whatever their reasons.

There are different types of violence - physical, emotional or sexual violence. It can also be used to bully someone.
